The proposed target of 35% of final energy from electricity by 2035 is ambitious and necessary. It's a bold move that could transform our cities, manufacturing processes, and daily lives, bringing us closer to the targets set in the Paris Agreement.

What makes this particularly fascinating is the potential for massive savings. Electrification is far more efficient than combustion, and according to experts, it could halve global energy demand. This efficiency translates to billions in savings for consumers and businesses, freeing up resources for other critical areas.

However, the path to electrification is not without its challenges. The recent preparatory talks in Bonn highlighted some of these obstacles. While there was progress on the 'just transition' issue, ensuring support for workers affected by the low-carbon shift, other areas proved more contentious.
